I am a full time guitar instructor who is a 35 year student of the craft. I teach folk, blues, and ragtime (Piedmont) finger picking (Dylan, Jim Croce, Doc Watson, Blind Blake) as well as the electric styles of Muddy Waters, The Allman Brothers, SRV, and the Stripes. I offer help with playing a Mississippi Delta (Son House, Robert Johnson) bottleneck slide and have been a student and player of this form for over 30 years. The lessons are fun and tailored to your needs, but goal oriented and structured. I believe playing "by ear" is very important, and I teach ear training to all my students as well as basic reading skills. For the more advanced player, lessons attempt to de-mystify previously hard to understand concepts, like using modes in a practical manner, by reinforcing solid fundamentals through scale and agility exercises, exploring improvisational ideas, and providing the coaching needed to make instantaneous harmonic decisions while soloing.
