If you are planning to continue to move into advanced training levels such as Bachelor and Master's level training in the area of graphic design and information technology, be sure to check if credits earned at the institution you are considering will be fully transferable. Some of the specialized training programs are not eligible for transfer to a college or university.

For graphic designers taking advanced level classes to train as a chief designer or art or creative director, completing business and human resource management as well as project management courses should also be included in the training programs. Often these types of programs will only be available through a business school, college or university.

An Associates degree in graphic design will typically last at least 2 years full time or three years if completed part time. If students already have a Bachelors degree in another field of study such as computer technology or related field the program completion time may be shorter. Talk to a guidance counselor before selecting courses.
